Increase Property Value Hardscape components are permanent features that beautify and improve a property in meaningful ways. Given their positive contributions, it’s no surprise they can have a significant positive effect on property values. Hardscapes stay with a home, continuing to serve new owners, who are willing to pay more for these permanent fixtures. Homeowners not planning to sell are still increasing the value of their asset by investing in sensible hardscape additions. Reduce Maintenance Softscapes often require significant effort to maintainThis isn’t true of rocks, wood, and other hardscape materials. While cleaning, painting, and other maintenance activities may be advisable, they generally require much less labor than what you experience with trees, shrubs, and flowers.Aesthetics and PracticalityPermanent hardscape components combine well with softscape elements to create a varied, attractive yard.Hardscape elements make it easier to enjoy your outdoor space.Benches and patios provide places to gather, while walkways and stepping stones make it easier to move around.Outdoor lighting provides safety, security, and curb appeal, illuminating hardscape and softscape elements, and tastefully drawing attention to the beauty of the landscape4. SustainabilityA well-thought-out hardscape feature will have no negative effects on the natural environment. Most are made from natural or recycled materials with no ecological consequences. This allows homeowners to increase their yard’s aesthetic appeal without damaging the plants and animals living in the area. Many hardscapes improve upon troublesome elements of softscapes. For example, paver patios and synthetic turf are permeable surfaces and drain quickly unlike grass or mulch surfaces which hold water and are messy to walk on after rainy weather.

It is advisable to have a conceptual design (not to scale) for most homeowner projects; conceptual design identifies individual elements of a landscaping project, location and relative size of those elements. It helps a customer visualize what their outdoor space will become before any work commences. Blue Ribbon Scapes provides conceptual design service as part of its bid process. For small jobs, this conceptual design is complimentary. For larger projects, Blue Ribbon asks for a design fee that is absorbed into the total project cost when the customer selects Blue Ribbon to perform the build.
